COVID-19 Frequently Asked Questions

  • Q. Are masks required in school or on the school bus?
    A: No - however,  families/employees may decide to continue to mask and we will respect each person’s decision. 

    Q. Is physical distancing required in school and district buildings?
    A: No

    Q: Are unvaccinated employees required to do weekly testing?
    A: No 

    Q: Are schools required to provide testing or test-to-stay options?
    A: No 

    Q: Should an employee or student who has COVID-19 symptoms be sent home?
    A: Yes, a student or employee with symptoms should be sent home. 

    Q: Can a student or employee be asked to wear a mask if they have COVID-19 symptoms?
    A: Yes, for the time they are in the building prior to going home.

    Q: Is isolation mandatory for employees or students who test positive for COVID-19?
    A: Yes, employees or students who test positive for COVID-19 should isolate for five days at home. Day zero is the day of symptom onset (for those without symptoms, day zero is the day the individual was tested).

    Q: Are schools required to conduct contact tracing?
    A: No 

    Q: Are Emergency Paid Sick Leave days available for employees who miss work due to COVID?
    A: Yes there are still Emergency Paid Sick Leave days, however, the number of instances remains limited. 

    Q: Should an employee or student quarantine after being exposed to someone with COVID-19?
    A: No, however it is recommended the individual wear a mask for five days.  

    Q: What if a student or employee refuses to mask when returning to school on days 6-10 after a positive COVID-19 test result?
    A: Students or employees will be encouraged to wear a mask through day 10 to help protect others.

    Q: Can students who cannot wear a mask be denied entry to school?
    A: No, the district should seek other preventative strategies for the student.

    Q: Should students and staff stay home if they are not feeling well? 
    A: Yes symptoms that will require absence from school/work include:   

    • Fever (≥100.0 degrees F) 

    • Chills 

    • Shortness of breath 

    • Sore throat 

    • Loss of taste or smell 

    • Headache 

    • Cough 

    • Nasal congestion 

    • Nausea, vomiting or diarrhea 

    • Fatigue 

    • Muscle or body aches
