Friday, June 06, 2025Hello Roth Families and Friends,It is with tremendous pride that I write this evening’s E-News. This week, we were able to celebrate so many of our students in so many different ways. At our Awards Ceremony. At the National Junior Honor Society Induction Ceremony. By sharing news and sign-ups regarding our end-of-year Spring Fest celebration Monday, June 16. The halls, auditorium, and common spaces were buzzing with energy and excitement all week long. It’s a good time to be at Roth.
Though I will share some other important information, I’d really like to use this E-News as a special Celebrating Roth’s Students edition. The reminders and news will come first, followed by links to awards and recipients. We have a great number of students represented in each of the categories. I really hope this encourages all of our students to actively participate in Roth’s rise to excellence.
Reminders:
Parent Group: Our final Parent Group meeting of the school year will be at 7 p.m. on Monday, June 9. I’m hoping we can come together to celebrate the year that has been, and to share goals and expectations for the new school year that’s just a few months away.
End-of-Year Schedule: As we prepare our students for these final weeks together, teachers have been sharing what the final two weeks in June will look like. After June 16, our 8th and 9th graders will come in only for scheduled Regents exams. Our 7th graders will be on a half-day cycle up until their very last day. Here are some helpful resources to understand what those weeks will look like. *Please note: this will be an excellent opportunity for families to use our new StopFinder App to track bus routes and locations. Primary contacts should have already received information to sign up; but, please call our Transportation Center at (585) 359-5380 if you have questions. **Also, please note that our 7th graders will not begin their school day until 10:30 a.m. Monday, June 23.
Regents/Exam Schedule (Grades 8 and 9)
Students and families, here is an idea of bus pick-up/drop-off times for those last two weeks:
- Early morning pick-up: Regular pick-up time
- Mid-day pick-up: 9:30 to 10 a.m.
- Mid-day departure: 10:30 to 10:45 a.m.
- End-of-day departure: 2:30 to 2:40 p.m.
Advanced Coursework Notification: Rush-Henrietta provides opportunities for students to participate in advanced coursework beginning in seventh grade and continuing through senior year. Click here to learn more about those opportunities, and the benefits these courses provide.
Celebrating Roth’s Students:
At Tuesday night’s Awards Ceremony, we honored over 200 of Roth’s rising stars. I’d like to share here some of the message that I opened our ceremony with, followed by a series of links to celebrate Roth’s champions.
“It has been a pleasure to get to know our kids this school year. Seven hours a day, forty weeks – we get a fairly large sample size of what our students are capable of achieving. Tonight, we hope to highlight the ones who hit the ground running from the fall of their 7th grade year and who have never slowed down. Our 9th grade recipients of the Principal’s Award, who will be missed when they start the final chapter of their Rush-Henrietta experience at the Senior High School next fall. We hope to highlight the ones who maybe stumbled off the block, but who found their stride along the way. Lifted, supported, and guided by so many of the adults in this auditorium tonight. Roth’s Rising Stars.
You will notice that we have invited more students and families to join in tonight’s celebration. Because the truth is: every one of our students does something on a regular basis that deserves recognition, applause, and encouragement. Our goal, at Roth Junior High, is to continue to create a culture and atmosphere that challenges 7th, 8th, and 9th graders to do well by, for, and with others. Academically and socially. This year’s recipients of our Citizenship, CHAMPion, Unity, and Sunshine awards demonstrate what we mean when we ask students to be upstanders in their community. Upstanders stand up for what is right, and they do so with kindness, respect, humility, and empathy. Tonight, we get to celebrate together. All of these students. All of our students.”
