Back-to-School FAQ

  • We have been preparing all summer for the new school year! Staff members look forward to greeting students as they return to school Tuesday, September 4, 2018. As you and your family prepare for the new school year, we want to provide answers to some frequently asked questions.

    Q: How do I register my child for school?

    A: Please register your child as soon as possible. To learn how to do so, please click here.
    Q: Where can I read the superintendent's back-to-school letter to families?
    A: Superintendent Bo Wright wrote a letter that was mailed to families in August. That letter is also available at the bottom of this page.

    Q: My contact information (address or phone number) has changed since last school year. Who should I inform?
    A: Please call the main office at your child's school. They will be glad to update this important information. 
    Q: When will we find out who my child's teacher is, or what his or her schedule is?
    A: Elementary schools (K-6) are mailing these letters Friday, August 17. Students in grades 7-12 will receive their information once it is mailed on Friday, August 24. The reason we wait until this point in August to release schedules is because we wait for summer school results to make sure every student's schedule is as accurate as possible. Schedules should be available via SchoolTool on the dates listed here.

    Q: Where can I read a summary of the student Code of Conduct
    A: The student Code of Conduct can be found here; it can be viewed on screen or downloaded to your device.

    Q: I want to be as involved in school as possible. Where can I find the district calendar?
    A: The district calendar is mailed to homes of all students in August. The calendar is also available online and is updated throughout the year. To view a customizable school calendar, click here
    Q: When is the first day of school?
    A: The first day of school is Tuesday, September 4.
    Q: How can I be a volunteer to support my child's education?
    A: Information about volunteering in our schools can be found here. We'd love to have you join us!
    Q: What if my child needs to be bused to or from a destination other than home?
    A: If you have not requested bus transportation to or from a babysitter’s house or child care center, the April 1 deadline – set by state law – has passed for established students. Families new to the district should visit to download the appropriate form, which should be completed and returned to your child’s school as soon as possible.

    Q: Where can I find school supply lists?

    Q: My child has some health issues I'd like to discuss. Who should I contact?
    A: Each school has a school nurse-teacher committed to your child's health and well being. Learn more by clicking here. Note the direct links to each school nurse-teacher's office on the left-hand side of that page.
    Q: How do I know which immunizations my child needs?
    A: Information about immunizations can be found by clicking here.
    Q: I have a question about busing routes. Whom should I contact?
    A: Please contact your home school.
    Q: What is the district's policy about student confidentiality and publicity?
    A: Student records are confidential. However, directory information may be released without written consent to publicize school activities or student achievement, as well as to military recruiters, colleges, and prospective employers. Some directory information may be released without consent for use by room parents, parent groups, etc. Directory information includes: name, address, telephone number, date of birth, photographs, video, height and weight of athletes, dates in attendance, awards, honors, or degrees received, as well as the most recent school attended. If you do not want your child's directory information released, please write a note to your child's principal. An opt-out is only valid for one school. You must refile each year.
