Robert Thompson, Class of 1958

  • Robert Thompson, Class of 1958, received his bachelor's degree from Syracuse University, and his master's degree from the State University of New York College at Brockport. His career as a teacher and school administrator spanned nearly 35 years. Although retired, he continues to work for local districts on an interim basis as the need for experienced leadership arises.

    Bob has served as Section V basketball media chair, media coordinator for the LPGA tournament in Rochester, and volunteered during the PGA Senior Open, PGA Ryder Cup, and PGA Championship. He is a member of the Press Radio Club, Bill Farrell Memorial Search Committee, and the Henrietta Public Library, and stays active as a Minerva Campbell Literacy Contest judge. He's also served as chairman of the Rush-Henrietta Space Study Task Force.

    Robert Thompson was honored with the Distinguished Alumni award in 2004.

    Updated: Bob Thompson was honored by the district with its 2008 Volunteer of the Year Award. When he died in August 2008, an outpouring of admiration and love from the community followed. Below are two newspaper stories about Bob.
