Joanne 'Jody' Wandall Day, Class of 1959

  • Joanne "Jody" Wandall Day, Class of 1959, has an unmatched passion for community service. A self-described "small-town person," she thrives on a personal philosophy of "neighbors helping neighbors." Jody was inspired by school administrators who encouraged all students to do their best. In 1959, she enlisted in the Women’s Army Corps and later served 23 years in the New York Army National Guard, retiring as a Sergeant First Class.

Jody, who worked for nearly 20 years as a licensed practical nurse, is a volunteer driver for the Rush-Henrietta Area Food Terminal and Friends in Service Here programs. You may know her better from her day job – she drives bus 365 each day for Rush-Henrietta schools.

Joanne "Jody" Wandall Day was honored with the Distinguished Alumni award in 2005.
