George Haberberger, Class of 1984
-
George Haberberger, Class of 1984, is a graduate of Sperry High School. He played baritone and trombone and was in the concert band and jazz ensemble. He is a graduate of Penn State University, where he received a degree in aerospace engineering; he also attended graduate school at North Carolina State University.
George worked for BCC Software in software testing and quality assurance, and he rewrote their software manual before joining the Xerox DocuTech team. At the time he was named a Distinguished Alumna, he had been with Xerox for 11 years and was serving as a Technical Support Engineer. In 1999 he authored the Samba Administration Handbook, which was so well received that the following year he was contracted to write Samba for Dummies. (Samba is a software suite that allows computers running Windows and computers running UNIX or Linux to communicate with each other.) George and his wife, Mary, have two daughters.
George Haberberger was honored with the Distinguished Alumni award in 2001.
