Linda Smith, Class of 1964

  • Linda Smith, Class of 1964, joined Rush-Henrietta as a science teacher in 1968 and has been awarded numerous honors. These include the University of Rochester Award for Excellence in Secondary School Teaching, the Sigma Xi Scientific Research Society Award for dedication to teaching science and encouragement of research, and the Tandy Technology Outstanding Teacher Award for using technology in the classroom.

    Linda was the first Commander in the Challenger Learning Center and head of the writing team for the BOCES I BUBL project, a simulated undersea adventure at the Rochester Museum and Science Center. At the time Linda was named a Distinguished Alumna, she taught earth science and astronomy at the high school and was computer liaison for staff training using technology in the classroom to facilitate student learning.

    Linda Smith was honored with the Distinguished Alumni award in 2000.
