Introduction to World Languages at Rush-Henrietta

  • Students entering seventh grade at Rush-Henrietta are required to take a world language.

The goal of the World Languages program is to develop our students to be global citizens who are linguistically and culturally able to communicate and participate successfully in our diverse society and abroad. Students must complete two years of a world language and pass a Checkpoint A exam to earn one credit in World Languages that is required for high school graduation. Students have the choice of four World Languages at Rush-Henrietta. The four World Languages offered are American Sign Language, French, German and Spanish. All four world languages are offered beginning in seventh grade and are available through level five in 12th grade. The study of a World Language can lead to an Advanced Regents Diploma and college credit.

To learn more about our World Languages offerings and assist you with your language choice, we encourage you to watch the following videos that were created by our Junior High School World Languages teachers and students.

If you have any questions about our World Languages program and course offerings, please contact World Languages Director Mark MacMillan at (585) 359-5056 or mmacmillan@rhnet.org.
