Patricia Prinzi, MS Ed. - Roth School Counselor, Grade 9
Hello, friends.Counselors play an important role in helping students examine their strengths, abilities and interests. Counselors work in professional partnerships with teachers to provide an educational system where students realize their true potential. School counselors reduce barriers to learning by providing necessary support for students to achieve at the highest level. My work with your student will be shaped by the individual goals we set with them. In general, my hope for all students is that they:
- achieve academic excellence
- be responsible and contributing citizens
- make decisions that contribute to continuous personal growth
- develop the skills necessary to be productive and competitive in society
- respect and appreciate individual differences and cultural diversity
I will work to help your student internalize beliefs and build skills around effective study habits, persistence in challenging curriculum, organization and self-advocacy. These are things that make learners successful. It is important that you encourage your student to express his/her needs, hopes and frustrations around learning.
We want to empower your student to take ownership of his/her grades and recognize the value in self-reflection for growth. We must provide frequent reminders and support to your student to communicate with his/her teachers and monitor academic progress. Moving from middle school to high school coursework is a significant transition. I am here to support your family. We'll work through it together! My door is always open.
