    Copyright Information

A key component to information literacy is the effective and ethical use of information. On this page, you will find relevant materials to help you stay current and up-to-date on copyright restrictions and regulations. If you have any questions, please see Sara Kimmel or Sheryl Diana at the SHS or Charlie Bielinski at the NGA.

    Copyright Free Music

Buying a piece of music  does not give you the right to use it publicly. However, the R-H CSD belongs to ASCAP (American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers) which allows for certain public performance rights of music. The rights are limited. Please contact your librarian for help in determining permissions.

There are many websites devoted to providing copyright free music. This music is intended for online and non-covered public performances.

Freeplay Music - This is a site we have used successfully for many years.

Soundzabound - Another great royalty free music site through a subscription from BOCES. Login automatically while at school. Password available on our password page.

    Movie Licensing

The R-H CSD has joined Movie Licensing USA which has granted R-H public performance rights to movies from various studios. Studios include: Walt Disney Pictures, Touchstone Pictures, Hollywood Pictures, Columbia Pictures, Tri-Star Pictures, Paramount Pictures, Dreamworks Pictures, Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, United Artists, Warner Bros, Sony Pictures, and Universal Pictures.
