Hello!
I am Francella Smith, I am an Art Teacher in the Rush Henrietta District, and for the 2017-2018 school year I will be teaching AP Studio, Advanced Studio in Art, Drawing and Painting I and II, and Jewlery & Metalcrafts I and II at The Senior High School. During the school year, you will have an opportunity to explore this site for examples of work by Rush Henrietta students in my classes. As most of our work occurs in the studio setting, I generally don't post homework assignments here, but you will find information about field trips and district art shows. You will also find syllabi, examples of teaching materials, information about Art Club, and some of my artwork.
What we're Doing in...AP Studio: This is the home stretch! AP students are wrapping up their concentrations. The AP exam is on May 11. Between now and then, Students will decide the order of their breadt6h and concentration sections for digital submission, Select 5 quality pieces for physical submission, cut mattes and/or mounting boards for those pieces, and write and edit their concentration statements. We will hold two more Open Studio evenings, Wednesday 5/2, and Wednesday 5/9, both from 6-9 pm in B119.Advanced Studio: Advanced students are beginning their 3 piece mini-concentrations, which are comprised of three pieces on a common theme. They may use any medium or media of their choice.Drawing and Painting: Students are finishing up their Oil Pastel self-portraits and will bestarting their acrylic color paintings this week.Jewelry: Students are in the process of finishing their butt-soldered signet rings, and will be working on chainmaking next.
