Every year I have my students fill out a “student questionnaire” to help me get to know them better. Here are some similar questions and “my answers” to help you get to know your teacher better!
Question 1: How old are you?
I am 48 years old but I will NOT reveal my birthday! That is a mystery to be solved during the school year.
Question 2: Where are you from?
I grew up in Seneca Falls, NY. Seneca Falls is a small town in the Finger Lakes region (near Cayuga Lake). Do you know what this town is most known for?
Question 3: Where did you go to College and what did you study?
I earned my Bachelor’s degree from Keuka College (also in the Finger Lakes region near Keuka lake). My major was Mathematics with a minor in Science and a minor in Computer Information Systems. I earned my Master’s degree in Math, Science & Technology Education from St. John Fisher College.
Question 4: What do you like about school?
I love problem solving! I wasn’t always the best student I could be but LEARNING is something I will do forever. I am especially good at tests, puzzles and games. Can you guess my favorite subject?
Question 5: What can you share about your family?
Family is very important to me! I have many aunts and uncles (too many to count). I do not have any brothers or sisters but I am the youngest of 13 cousins. So for many years I was the “baby” of the family. My wife’s name is Christine and we have 2 children (TJ and Allie). We do have a family pet golden retriever and her name is Ruby.
Question 6: What do you like to do for fun?
I really enjoy listening to music. I love to watch sports, especially with my family. I can’t help but try to fix things that are broke.
Question 7: What is challenging for you?
Reading student’s minds! I am the type of person/teacher that always wants to help. If my students don’t ask questions or tell me what they are struggling with then it is very difficult to help them. But that doesn’t stop me from trying.
Question 8: What is the most important thing you should know about me?
I would like you to know that I have a GREAT deal of respect for ALL of my students. I love to teach because I feel that the greatest gift I can give is to help educate others. I promise all my students that I will always be fair, honest and respectful of who they are. My classroom is open to all and a safe place to learn. Lastly, I will try to be the best teacher I can be from the first day to the last (and even beyond)!
