DC Trip
Students going on the DC trip are to go to the auditorium at 2:10pm,Tuesday, June 6th, to meet your chaperone and get your walking groups. We will go over the expectations, so make sure and read them over in our Google Classroom.

Congratulations to some amazing musicians who performed at solo festival last night! From 9th grade Emily Clark, Phoenix Hoffman, and Nyah Wragg all performed vocal solos. Ryan Buzard performed both a vocal and violin solo! From 8th grade Mariana Albino-Toro, Mia Rockell, Andrew Smith, Keira Wright and Aralina Yarbrough all performed a vocal solo. 8th grader William Richardson performed a bass solo and 7th graders Akash Naranyan and Myles Weaver performed violin solos.

Last night the Mod B softball team played their final game of the season. Kyla Ritzel recorded 9 strike outs. Lilli Gritsak had a phenomenal catch in outfield. Kyla Ritzel, Willa Morgan, Brooklyn Kuntz, and Lucy Swinton each got a single. The Royal Comets scored 7 runs. Congrats on a great season of fun and learning.

The mod girls lax team traveled to Greece to take on the Storm. The comets can to play and won the game 10-1. Avery scored 4 goals and Paityn had 3. The team played good defense and held Greece to 1 goal. Bailey had seven saves. The last game of the year is next Tuesday home vs Hilton at 4:15.

Last night the Mod B softball team took on Hilton. Alivia Colavecchio made her pitching debut and recorded her 1st strike out. Willa Morgan and Lucy Swinton did a great job hustling behind the plate. Lilli Connors got a double and single, Kyla Ritzel recorded 4 singles, Natalia Printy, Willa Morgan and Lucy Swinton all had singles. The Lady Royal Comets scored 18 runs.

RH vs. Churchville-Chili: At Roth, the people that played were Dominic Hilliman, Cullen Hirschman, Myles Weaver, and me. Dominic was in the net with a lot of saves but not sure how many, Myles had a goal to put us up one, Cullen had some faceoff wins, and I had an assist and the game-tying goal.
On Friday despite the rain, The Mod B softball team played 7 innings vs. Churchville Chili. Kyla Ritzel her best game of pitching and recorded 10 strikeouts. Willa Morgan did an excellent job catching the entire game. The Lady Royal Comets showed some amazing fielding. Alivia Colavecchio turned a double play with cooperation of Lili Conners and made a great catch in the bottom of the 6th inning. Lucy Swinton, Lili Connors, Alivia Colacecchio and Kyle Ritzel showed impressive fielding during the game. Addison Wieglosz and Brooklyn Kuntz displayed constant hustle in the field. Alivia Colavecchio got 2 singles, Lilly Gritsak, Kyla Gritsak and Brooklyn Kuntz all singled to help score 8 runs. Today the ladies face the Hilton Cadets away.

Sports
The modified baseball team played against Pittsford-Mendon and absolutely demolished them by a final score of 1-0. Jack Timpani pitched for 2 innings, allowing none and striking out 4 batters. Thomas Potucek and Ryker Christensen each had a single. Logan Johnson proved that you shouldn't ever run on him as he threw out a baserunner at third to potentially save a run. The track team finished their league meet schedule on Tuesday at Victor which also included Brighton and Hilton, both girls and boys teams swept all three teams. Last night the Mod B girls softball team faced the Spartans from Gates Chili. Addison Wielgosz recorded 3 strike outs from the mound as Alivia Colavecchio made her catching debut. Lucy Swinton, Addison Wielgosz and Lillian Conners each had 3 singles. Alivia Colavecchio, Bailey Halstead and Lillyanna Gritsak each had 2 singles. Willa Morgan and Brooklyn Kuntz each had a single. The Lady Royal Comets rallied their bats and displayed aggressive baserunning to score 23 runs. Lillian Conners displayed wonderful fielding. Way to go RH. Today the Lady Royal Comets face the Brockport Blue Devils.
RH Varsity Girls Lacrosse earned its 12th win of the season with a 20-8 win over Hilton. Earning points for RH are the following players:

National Day of Silence is a national student-led demonstration where LGBTQAI + students and allies around the country take a vow of silence to protest the harmful effects of harassment and discrimination of LGBTQAI+ people in schools. Students who are participating in this demonstration will be silent throughout the entire day, including in classes. These students will have a card that states that they are remaining silent and why. Students will pick up their silent cards in the library.Students will be told that they need to show their teachers when they enter class their card to let you know that they are participating in Day of Silence. They are also being asked to leave the cards on their desk, so that you have a reminder that they are participating.

The Academic challenge bowl and chess clubs had a great time in their final competition week. The chess team played two strong competitions with contributions from Emma Pulvino, Will Phillips, Earl Phillips, Josh Febles, and newcomer Travis Williams. The Academic Challenge Bowl won one game and lost the other. The high scorer was Will Richardson. Other scorers were Arabella Kroesen, Susie Sherman, Mariana Albino-Toro, and Emily Roman. Great job everyone!

Try outs begin on Monday, March 27th and will be held at Burger (meet downstairs in the cafeteria) for both teams. Tryouts are for 3 days from 3:45 - 5:30. The Academic Challenge Bowl had a really good competition on Wednesday. The team lost the first game to an undefeated Brighton Team. The second game went to overtime and Will Richardson got the sudden death question to win the game! Top scorers were Will Richardson and Keira Wright. Arabella Kroesen, Susie Sherman, And Yashveer Singh also earned points and participated. Great job to the whole team!

3/13/23 - The indoor track & field team competed in the NYS indoor championships on Staten Island this past Saturday. Mamadou Barry and Christian Wescott ran on the intersectional medley relay where they teamed with a runner from Batavia on a runner from Attica. The quartet placed 3rd overall and were runner-up in NYS Public HS Haylie Smith broke her own school record placing 13th in the 3000m while Lindsay Richardson placed 27th in the 1000m. The indoor track team competed in sectionals last weekend against 16 other Class A1 teams. The girls team finished 3rd overall while the boys team placed 6th. Haylie Smith won the sectional title in the 3000m run breaking the school record. Mamadou Barry also earned a sectional title in the 600m run and the boys 4x8 relay of Mikey Flannery, Sam Adamson, Mamadou Barry and Sam Yacob came home as sectional champions. Morgan Sizer broke the school record in the triple jump ranking her 8th in NYSThis past weekend at the state qualifier the Royal Comets showed well with six earning the trip to states next week. The academic challenge bowl team had another great competition last night. They crushed Burger with a score of 230 to 10. Then they lost a close match to Livonia. Our high scorer was Will Richardson. Keira Wright, Arabella Kroesen, Susie Sherman and Yashveer Singh also participated and earned points for the team. Great job everyone!

The RH Boys Mod A basketball team ended their season on a high note with a come from behind victory over Gates-Chili last night 63-53. After a slow start the team cranked up the defensive effort and the tide quickly turned. Leading the way in scoring for the team was Milan Griffiths who finished with 15 points and 3 rebounds. And another strong performance by Kingston Henry with 11 points 5 rebounds and 3 blocked shots! The entire team scored at least a point, which was a great way to end the season. Their final record was a respectable 5 wins and 7 loses. Coach Sementa would like to thank all the boys for their hard work and dedication and making the season a memorable one!

The RH Boys Mod A basketball team lost a hard fought match to Spencerport last night 68-52. It was a tough night shooting for the boys but a great game was played by Burger's own Brandon Mangone who scored a season-high 20 points in the loss. In a supporting role, Oliver Wright scored 13 and Dereon Baker pinched in with 6 points as well. The team will finish its season with two games next week. Monday the team will play Irondequoit at Roth. We hope to see you there!

The Boys Mod A basketball team won their third game in a row last night over Greece Arcadia 55-53. The game was tightly contested with both teams putting in strong defensive efforts with RH ultimately taking control with timely baskets. The victory was a solid, total team effort with all team members playing important minutes. Leading the way in scoring was Brendan Mangone with 14 points and Kingston Henry with 9. The team now has 4 wins and 4 losses as they head into a matchup at Churchville Chili on Wednesday afternoon.

Congratulations to the Modified Swimmers finishing their season at HFL on Friday with a 125-92 win. Multiple wins were posted by Caroline Hendy (3, 50 Butterfly, 50 Breaststroke and 200 Freestyle Relay), Makena Brady (100 Individual Medley, 200 Freestyle Relay) and Aubree Yantachka (100 Freestyle, 200 Freestyle Relay). Other wins were posted by Wyatt Flannery (50 freestyle), Will Graf (100 Freestyle), Willa Morgan (200 Freestyle), Cynthia Niang (50 freestyle), Cassidy Stasko (50 backstroke), and Emily Whitehouse (200 Freestyle Relay).The team ends the season with a 7-1 overall record, undefeated at home, and as our inaugural season a complete set of school records held by this group. The next step for the current 8th graders will be the Varsity program in the fall for girls and winter for boys. The Modified swimmers went on the road Wednesday night to push their record to 6-1 over Webster, 133-101. Triple wins came from Makena Brady and Aubree Yantachka to lead the girls to a 103-23 win in their division. Hailey Allen earned Swimmer of the Meet accolades with 3 best times and 2 wins. The team will finish the year Friday night at HFL.
The Boys Modified A basketball team travelled to East Irondequoit and came home with their second victory in a row 41-38. The victory was a total team effort with each member contributing in some way. Leading the Royal Cometes was Kingston Henry who finished with 10 points, 5 rebounds and a blocked shot. Brendan Mangone had 9 points and 8 rebounds. While Jacob Militello helped seal the victory with 6 points in the 4th quarter. The team has improved their record to 3 wins and 4 loses on the season.

The Modified Swimming and Diving team hosted Greece Storm at Sperry High School yesterday, earning their second win of the year 103-85. The team was tested at times, but event winners included Joseph Gondoli, Aubree Yantachka, Caroline Hendy (twice), Cassady Stasko, Makenna Brady, Willa Morgan and Wyatt Flannery.The team takes their undefeated record on the road to Brighton on Friday.Tonight the Varsity Boys will be hosting State Powerhouse Fairport at 5pm; come cheer on our Freshman classmates and Roth / Burger alum!Indoor Track - Haylie Smith and Mamadou Barry returned home late Saturday night from RIT as Monroe County Champions, Haylie in the 3000m and Mamadou in the 600m. Both led their respective races from the gun and dominated the field. Haylie started pulling away with several strong laps after the half way point pulling away to a 26 second victory. In the 600m Mamadou felt the competion's breath with about 150m remaining, but used a strong kick to gap the field for his win.

The Modified Swimming and Diving team hosted Greece Storm at Sperry High School yesterday, earning their second win of the year 103-85. The RH mod A girls basketball ball team held on to defeat Irondequoit by a single point. The team was aggressive and handled the full court pressure that they faced the entire game. Gabi Travers led all scorers with 9 points and hit a three pointer late in the game to put the team ahead. Beza Teshome added 4 points. Grace Gurung and Ja’Niayah Lucas led the team at the point and held the other team defensively.

Last night, girls JV basketball beat Gates-Chili. The entire team played outstanding defense. Offensively, Meya McCray contributed 20 points while, other points were contributed by Kayden Hartel, Sofie Kiselgof, Kaylee Duda, and Gabby Giambra. Clubs Congratulations to the R-H Chess & JV MasterMinds teams for their respective wins yesterday at SOTA! R-H Chess lost a very close match to Greece-Arcadia 23-17. R-H swept Keshequa 40-0! Roshan Pradhan continued his undefeated streak for the season! Excellent efforts also from Harrison Lundquist, Jessica Wagner, Connor McGovern, and Alex Torres who also contributed to R-H's win. JV MasterMinds lost their first match of the season, but rallied back with a win against Gates-Chili. Phoenix Hoffman had 90 points for the day and led JV in scoring. Raj Vaghela had 50 points for Varsity and Ethan Yen earned 45 in a heartbreaking overtime loss to Hilton 140 to 145. Thank you to all who participated and tried their hardest. Way to go R-H!

RH lost to a tough McQuaid team Tuesday night 96-82. Winners for RH were Mikey Flannery in the 100 Free and Aaron Merkl in the 500 Free. Congrats go out to Tyler Zuber who completed his first diving competition with only a couple days of practice and scored 92 Points. And had a lifetime best 1:16.13 in the 100 Backstroke. Jordan Annlee had an in-season best time in the 200 IM (2:24.66) and a lifetime best 1:08.24in the 100 Breast. Bayley Herman also had 2 lifetime best swims in the 50 Free (25.11) and the 100 Free (55.60). Newcomer this year Aaron Beyor also had 2 lifetime best times in the 50 and 100 Free! RH travels to Victor on Thursday for their next meet.
Last night girls, JV basketball had a hard-fought game against West Irondequoit, losing by only one point. Kayden Hartel played a great game scoring 20 points. Good luck on Friday against Fairport and Monday against Canandaigua.

The RH Boys Varsity swim team defeated Churchville on Tuesday by a score of 96-82. Chris Caswell was a quadruple winner for RH, winning the 200 Free and 500 Free and as a member of the 200 Medley Relay with Jordan Annlee, Christopher Lewis and Mikey Flannery and the 200 Free Relay with Aaron Merkl, Matthew Lewis and Tyler Zuber. Christpohner Lewis was also a quadruple winner, winning the 100 free, 100 Back and the 200 Medley and 200 Free Relays. Matthew Lewis won the 200 IM. Mikey Flannery won the 50 Free. Aaron Merkl won the 100 Fly. Jordan Annlee won the 100 Breaststroke. Congratulations to Bayley Herman who qualified for Sectionals as well with a huge time drop and broke 1:00 for the first time ever in the 100 Freestyle, going 57.18.

11/14: Modified Swimming and Diving Team - Attention all 7th and 8th grade students. RH is beginning a NEW TEAM this winter, beginning November 28. The Modified Swimming and Diving Team is looking for both Boys and Girls who have an interest in trying our team out. There will be an interest meeting Monday November 14 at Sperry High School Pool starting at 2:45/3pm. Students may take the Shuttle Bus to the High School and go to the Pool Hallway. Kids may then take the Late Bus home from the High School at 3:45 (passes will be given by Coach Parton) or parents may pick you up there at the Gymnasium entrance. No past swim team or dive team experience is required, but you must be able to swim one length of the pool non stop. This past weekend:
The cross country team competed this past Saturday in the state championships at Vernon-Verona-Sherrill high school.Christian Wescott finished 25th and Mikey Flannery 31st in the boys Class A race. Both runners with Sam Adamson, Sam Lewis, Evan Robey, Bayley Herman and Sam Yacob will be competing next Saturday in the NYS Federation Championships at Bowdoin Park in Wappinger Falls.Haylie Smith broke the school record on the V-V-S course while placing 29th in the girls Class A race while Lindsay Richardson placed 41st. Lindsay was voted the Section V girls Class A Sportsmanship Award winner.Haylie will also be competing next weekend at the NYS Federation Championships.11/10/22 - Thursday, "A" Day

The Rush Henrietta modified cross country team hosted the Future Stars Invitational and ended their season with the girls coming in 1st place and the boys came in 2nd place. The girls took off first and were led by Violet Lewis (3rd place), Annabel Nudds (5th place), Emily Whitehouse (7th place), Grace Favalo (10th place), and Jane Pschierer (11th). The boys were led by Nolan Covey (5th place), Andrew Smith (6th place), Jiraiya Mey (11th), Jason Chen (13th), and Regi Dunlop (14th). Everyone finished strong for RH and it was a great day to end the season.

Friday, the Modified Cross Country team went to Parma Park to compete against many other Monroe County teams. The night was a perfect October night and the boys and girls teams were ready to make their mark. The boys went off first with 273 runners. They got settled into a great pace. Nolan Covey 15th, Andrew Smith 17th, Jiraiya Mey 43rd, Mac Herreid 59th and Jason Chen 60th all scored for the boys. The boys team finished 8th out of 19. The girls were next and they also got out strong and raced well. This race had 164 competitors. The RH Girls Mod. A soccer team won their final game of the year last night on the road at Brockport. The entire team had an amazing game! RH’s single goal was scored by Lilly Howlett on an assist from Alex Gross. The footwork, defense, passing, communication, speed and tenacity of this team are second to none. Thank you for a great season ladies!!
This week the mod b girls volleyball team took on Greece Athena and Brockport. Our leading servers this week were Jaelynn Johnson, Ava Barnes and Annabelle Esquejo. Emma Sheldon, Alexis Johnson, Elena Au, and Ashley Sugrue played great on defense. Fiona Finlayson and Sadie Simonelli lead the team in kills. We are back in action on Monday for our last game of the season.

The RH Modified Cross Country went to Parma Park to compete in the 2nd annual RH/Hilton invitational. The Boys were up first and got off to a good start. At the finish many RH runners outkicked their opponents. The boys came away runner ups to Victor. Nolan Covey and Andrew Smith led the RH charge finishing 4th and 7th. Jason Chen, Jiraiya Mey and Reggie Dunlop rounded out the scoring for the Royal Comets. The Girls went off 20 minutes later and were led by Violet Lewis who finished 5th overall, Her time of 13:39 was the 12th fastest off all time for Varsity, JV and Modified programs. Annabel Nudds, Emily Whitehouse, Caroline Hendy and Taylor Aforismo finished off the scoring for the Lady Royal Comets, who finished in 4th place. Saturday was a great day to be a Royal Comet.

The boys cross country team beat Fairport and Brighton on Wednesday at Shadow Pines Park to win the Monroe County Division 1 title with a 5-0 record.Mikey Flannery won the race in 16:47 with Christian Wescott 2nd, Evan Robey 4th, Sam Adamson 6th, Mamadou Barry 11th, Bayley Herman 13th and Sam Lewis 16th.Their overall record is now 14-2Haylie Smith broke the course record on her way to victory in 18:49 as the girls team beat Brighton, but lost to Fairport. All of the team members have shown improvement since the start of the season. Over the weekend, the Rush Henrietta Modified Cross Country team crushed the Legends invitational in Newark with both boys and girls teams getting 1st place overall. The boys' team was led by Nolan Covey (1st place), Andrew Smith (3rd place), Jason Chen (4th place), Jiraiya Mey (5th place), and Keegan Trevor (7th place) all scoring well for RH. The girl's team was led by Violet Lewis (1st place), Annabel Nudds (2nd place), Emily Whitehouse (3rd place), Caroline Hendy (5th place), and Grace Favalo (6th place) also scoring well for RH.

The Mod. A Girls Soccer Team tied 3-3 against Greece Athena last night. Bella kroesen scored the first goal for RH followed by two from Alex Gross. Lucy Cote, Giana Fregoe and Emy Johnson all had great games! RH faces Fairport on the road next Tuesday.

Girls JV soccer team wrapped up last week with a win over Brockport with the goals being scored by Ciena Craw in both the Brockport and Victor games. The defense held on strong to have a shutout against Brockport. Great job to the defense, Mariam Barry, Paige Cenzi, Hannah Iamaio, Leah Kelsey, Kali Leathersich, and Taylor Potwin. The girls team travelled to Webster last night, falling 75-37. Led by Neylah Ortiz, the girls took wins in the 500 freestyle, and the 200 and 400 freestyle relays, where she was joined by Jalisia Burno, Shayla Weise and Adrianna Hardy. Weise also won the 100 backstroke, while Hardy and Ortiz took 3rd in their other events, with Weise and Hardy taking 4th and 5th in their final individual events. An amazing team effort all around as RH scored the first goal on a Bella Krosen assist to Alex Gross. RH held Spencerport off until a late game penalty shot tied it up. Gianna LeBrun, Kara Benjamin, Emily Roman and Briella Morgan all had amazing games for RH.
Zaliyah Dillard scored two goals and Maleena Dahal tallied one goal as the RH girls Mod B soccer team earned their first win of the season over of Brighton 3-2. The RH Girls Mod. A soccer team lost a close game against Churchville-Chili last night, 4-2. Both goals were scored by Lilly Howlett. Excellent performances from Giana LeBron, Bella Kroesen, Kara Benjamin and Briella Morgan rounded out a great comeback by RH. Way to go ladies!!
Music
Dedicated Voices will be holding auditions after school, this Thursday, after school till 3:40pm. Because there are no late buses, you will need to have a ride home at 3:40, or set up a time with Mr. Kazacos to audition during the day. Please email Mr. Kazacos or see him in Room 103 if you would like to audition. Rehearsal files are posted on a Google Classroom page that anyone auditioning will be invited to.

The RH Modified Cross Country team went to Black Creek yesterday for their first meet of the season. The team was nervous, but prepared to take on the other 3 schools. The boys raced first, getting out and settling into a nice race pace. Nolan Covey and Andrew Smith worked together and placed 4th and 5th overall. Jack Timpani, Jason Chen and Jariya Mey finished strong and scored for the team. The boys went 2-1 at the meet. The girls were next and ready. Once again RH got out fast and established a great pace. Violet Lewis finished 2nd, Annabel Nudds 5th, Caroline Hendy 10th, Ella Serapilio 12th, Jane Pschierer 13th and Grace Favalo 15th all scored for The Royal Comets. The girls also finished the race 2-1. Great showing for RH everyone and as always we finished strong.
The cross country team opened their season this past weekend at the Bob Goodell Memorial Invitational winning both varsity races and the boys sub varsity race.Evan Robey was the top finisher in the sub varsity boys race placing 2nd and Ayla Campini was the top RH finisher in the girls sub varsuty race placing 14th.Christian Wescott placed 11th in the vasity race followed by Mikey Flannery 12th, Zach Terrano 15th, Caleb Lantz 17th and Sam Adamson 22nd to win the varsity team race.Haylie Smith and Lindsay Richardson finished 1st & 2nd to lead the girls team to victory with Audrey Gleghorn 6th, Ava Magyar 21st and Isabelle Colosimo 32nd rounding out the team scoring.On Tuesday the team took on Churchville Chili, Penfield and Spencerport at Black Creek Park. Mikey Flannery led the boys this time in 3rd place and to a 2-1 record only loosing to Churchville.Also scoring was Christian Wescott 7th, Zach Terrano 12th, Caleb Lantz 16th and Evan Robey 17th. The boys are now 1-0 in their league and 3-1 overallLindsay Richardson took 2nd place with Haylie Smith close in 3rd to lead the girls team to a 2-1 record only loosing to Churchville by a narrow 3pt margin. Completing the scoring were Audrey Gleghorn 7th, Alexus Luc 9th and Ava Magyar 11th. The girls are also 1-0 in their league and 3-1 overall.Up next is the Wayne Invite on Saturday.9/14/22 Wednesday

While the assists were from Mariam Barry and Madeline Lewis. Good luck against Fairport on Wednesday.A tough loss for JV football last night as they battled hard at Fairport.
