Attendance Information

  • Important information from Mrs. Tantalo, Roth Attendance Secretary:

When a student is absent from Roth Middle School for any reason, please call the attendance line at 359-5101 or 359-5102. Both lines have voicemail and you can leave a message at any time of the day or night.

When leaving a message on the voicemail, please state the student’s name, the reason for the absence, and your name and relationship to the student. If you know your student will be out for an extended period of time or will be arriving late from an appointment, please include this information on the message. A note regarding your student’s absence must be sent to the attendance office upon his/her return to school.

Late Arrivals: If your student has a doctor’s appointment or will be late to school for any reason (classes begin at 7:15 a.m.), please call the attendance line to indicate that the student will be arriving late. If a student arrives late to school, a parent should accompany the student into the attendance office to sign him or her into school. If you cannot accompany your student into the building, please be sure to send a signed note with your student and have him or her come directly to the attendance office upon arrival.

Early Pick-ups: If you need to pick your student up early from school for any reason, please send a note to school with the student. The note should be brought to the attendance office and your student will be given an early dismissal pass from class so he or she may meet you at the specified time in the attendance office. (You may also call the attendance office to advise the school that you need to pick a student up early.) A parent/guardian is required to come into the building to sign a student out of school through the attendance office for any early dismissal.

End of the Day/Dismissal Time: There is no need to come into the building to sign a student out once they are dismissed from school at 2:30 p.m. Please make arrangements with your student as to where you want to meet him or her at dismissal. Many parents and guardians meet students at the end of the sidewalk near the parking lot at dismissal time.

Remember, you can call the attendance office anytime of the day or night and leave a message regarding a student’s late arrival, early dismissal, or absence. If you do not call the attendance office, I will attempt to reach you for confirmation of your student’s absence. Thank you.
