    Speakers’ Bureau Project

Dear Families and Friends of Burger Middle School:

In an effort to make learning more meaningful to our middle school students (grades 6 through 8), we are inviting parents, guardians, relatives and other community partners to join our Speakers’ Bureau project. Volunteers to this program would visit one or more classes at Burger Middle School to meet with students in a small classroom environment discussing careers and the world of their chosen work.

If you decide to volunteer as a “career speaker”, we will add your information to our resource binder. Unless otherwise specified by you, ONLY one teacher will contact you to request you visit their classroom for a 50 minute time period at your convenience. You would meet with those students and discuss your career story (how you chose your career) along with any pertinent information or presentations from your world of work.

It is our goal to invite members of our Rush-Henrietta family and other interested community resources to come in and share information on careers with our students in an academic area that is directly related to your chosen occupation. We are hoping to make this a consistent program so that our students will have multiple career speakers within their classrooms during their three years of middle school.

If you are interested, please complete the form attached  below and return to the Counseling Center at Burger Middle School, 639 Erie Station Rd., West Henrietta, NY 14586. Upon receipt of your form, we will add you to our Resource Binder located in the Burger Counseling Center. Teachers will have access to that binder and may be calling you to set up a visit. You can determine the length and breadth of your involvement in our Speakers’ Bureau. We would love to have you join us!

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us at 585-359-5320.

    Sincerely,

Michael Neary, Chad Weisensel, Lisa Hawkes, School Counselors
