Physical Education Expectations
-
RUSH-HENRIETTA CENTRAL SCHOOL DISTRICT
WINSLOW ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
Dear Parents,
Your child participates in physical education class on either A and C days, or B and D days. This works out so that your child has physical education every other day. Please make sure that your child is wearing sneakers on these days. The children will participate in a variety of activities that require a great deal of movement. It is advisable to have your children wear clothing that is oriented for active participation. It would be best to have clothing that fits comfortably. Dresses and "best clothes" might be better saved for non-physical-education days.
If for any reason, your child cannot actively participate in physical education class or needs to be partially restricted from activity, please send a note that day.
We follow the expectations stated on the PBIS Matrix. We expect students to be caring in the following ways. We do this by:
Taking care of ourselves.
• Come dressed to play.
• Make sure we can hear the teacher.
• We try our best.
Taking care of each other.
• We allow others to listen and learn.
• We look out for one another.
• We treat one another as well as we want to be treated.
Taking care of equipment.
• We take out and put away gently and neatly.
• We use it as if it were our own.
When students make positive choices, they are recognized by earning S.O.A.R. cards and P.E. student
of the month. When students do not follow our expectations, the following occurs:
Strike 1 - Reminder of choice, take a time-in near sideline- rejoin class when the student thinks he/she
is ready.
Strike 2 - Reminder of choice, take a time-in near sideline- rejoin class with the teacher’s permission.
Strike 3 - Review of matrix, then take a time-in near sideline- may be out the remainder of class. Communication to teacher, administrator and /or child’s home may be conducted by various means including e-mail, letter, or telephone call.
Thank you for your cooperation in reading about our rules. All children have been made aware of the rules and are expected to ensure a safe and positive learning environment for all.
If you are interested in any aspect of our physical education program or have any questions or
comments at anytime, please feel free to call us at Winslow.
We are looking forward to an exciting year of learning with your child.
Sincerely,
Becky Olsen and Jeff Marshall
