Dear Winslow Families,
We hope you are enjoying the beautiful weather and taking time to honor our military personnel this Memorial Day weekend. Here is a short article sharing some ways to talk to your kids about this important day.
Thanks for such a great turn out last Tuesday as we distributed student belongings. It was not the end-of-year send off we wanted, but it was great seeing students, parents, and staff. Here are some snapshots from Distribution Day. If you still need to grab your child’s items, please call the main office on Wednesday mornings between 8 to 11 a.m. (359-5090) to make arrangements.
Here are some important items for the coming week:
Winslow Sneaker Challenge
Would you like to see a pie thrown in Coach Olsen, Coach Marshall, and Mr. Pollard’s face? Maybe ice poured on them? Please check out this slideshow and video to find out more!
Be Trustworthy Goal Cards
You can still turn in your Trustworthy Goal Cards. Please fill out this My Trustworthy Goal Card and share it with me through Google. When you click on this link, it will prompt you to make a copy. This card will allow you to tell us your trustworthy goal by completing this sentence: Because I said I would, I will...
Winslow PTO News
Thanks to our PTO for donating staff bags and Winslow masks to staff on Distribution Day and for putting together goodie bags to celebrate our third graders! Your support and thoughtfulness is much appreciated.
Instrument Selections for the 2020-2021 School Year
Each year, we introduce instruments to third-graders who are interested in beginning instrumental lessons and ensembles in fourth grade. Due to the school closure, we will be conducting this process in September. Students may receive instruction on string or band instruments beginning in grade 4. They may also choose to join the chorus. In the fall, the new crop of fourth grade students will participate in an assembly where they will be introduced to the instruments of the band and orchestra. Following the assembly, students have an opportunity to become more familiar with the instruments. The band and orchestra teachers will make observations and send home their instrument recommendations. More information on this process will be sent home in the fall.
