When I Was Young
When I was young, every October I would sell pumpkins in my front yard. At the end of May I would plant the seeds. During the summer I would pull weeds out of my pumpkin patch. And then, on October 1st, I would carry the pumpkins to the front of our yard. With my hard work, I was able to earn my own money for something that I wanted. What I didn't realize then was that my parents were teaching me the value of hard work. I thought I was earning money to buy something really cool like an Atari 2600 or a new bike! And now every October I think of those days and thank my parents for teaching me the value of hard work.
