• Welcome to Crane Elementary School! Below you will find a list of frequently asked questions that are designed to help you learn more about our school. Please feel free to call the main office at 359-5400 for additional information. We're happy to help!

    Q. Where can I drop off my child and what is the procedure?
    A.
     Students can be dropped off at the parking lot door.  All cars will follow the lane around the outside of the parking lot.  Please have your child on the passenger side of your vehicle. This will make it easier and safer for your child to get out. A staff member will be on the sidewalk to greet your children. Students should not arrive at school before 7:50. No one is available to supervise children before that time. Students that arrive late to school must be accompanied by an adult to sign them in at the main office.

    Q. How early can I drop off my child at school?
    A. School begins at 7:50 a.m. and students can be dropped off as early as 7:45 a.m.

    Q. Where can I pick my child up after school and what is the procedure?
    A. All families who will regularly be picking up their child at the end of the day are asked to come between 1:45-1:55 p.m. You will be given a permanent pick-up sign on the first day of school. Students will be dismissed at 1:50 and will wait in the hallway to be paired with a parent while you remain in your car. Staff will ask for you to hold up your permanent pick-up sign. If your child is not on the “permanent pick-up list” let us know your child’s name and have your ID ready.  A staff member will locate your child and walk them to your car.  If we are not familiar with who is picking up a student, we will ask for ID and check that they are on the approved pick-up list. 

    Q. What if I need to pick my child up earlier than regular dismissal?
    A. Please click here to access the form you need.  Please complete this form no later than 12:30 pm on the day of the early pick-up/dismissal change.  If it is past 12:30 pm, you must call the Crane office at 585-359-5400 and provide a reason for the late request.  Emergencies may be accommodated with principal review/approval only.  We regret that we are unable to process same-day requests received after 12:30 pm through this form.  


    Q. Can my child skip a grade?
    A. In order to reap all of the academic, social and emotional benefits school has to offer, children are placed in grades by age, therefore, skipping a grade is not permitted.

    Q. How do I register my child for before and after school care at Crane?
    A. The district's fee-based childcare program, the Cub Care Zone, provides before and after school care for Rush-Henrietta students in grades K-6 at the school they attend. Please go to www.rhnet.org/cubcare for more information, or call the Cub Care Office at 359-7911.
