E-News sent Tuesday, May 28

Dear Rush-Henrietta Families and Employees,

As I shared last week, Rush-Henrietta’s budget proposition for 2024-2025 was not approved, falling short by only 15 votes. After careful consideration and in consultation with many people, I am recommending to the Board of Education that it consider putting forth a revised budget proposition for a vote to be held Tuesday, June 18.

Rush-Henrietta had three options to consider when deciding its next steps. The first was for the Board of Education to adopt a contingency budget. This was not ideal as it would require a spending reduction of $4 million. Another alternative involved holding a second vote in June, putting forth the same budget proposal that appeared in May. The third option, which I am recommending, offers a revised budget for voter approval.

I'll be sharing the details of this revised budget with the community and Board of Education at its regularly scheduled meeting tonight, Tuesday, May 28. In the meantime, we are scheduling community forums and drafting a revised budget newsletter. In person and in print (and, yes, on social media), we will answer commonly asked budget questions and address some misperceptions.

The Board of Education meets at 7 p.m. tonight, Tuesday, May 28, at the Parker Administration Building, 2034 Lehigh Station Road. You are encouraged to attend! You are also welcome to watch online live or at your convenience at www.rhnet.org/liveboard. A recording will be posted for viewing tomorrow.

Thanks for your continued interest in the Rush-Henrietta Central School District.

Sincerely,

Dr. Barbara A. Mullen
Superintendent
