Rhonda Morien Named New Principal at Sherman Elementary School
The Rush-Henrietta Central School District is pleased to announce Rhonda Morien as the new principal of Sherman Elementary School. Her appointment was made this week by the Board of Education. She was selected after a rigorous review of many qualified candidates.
“From the moment I stepped foot in Rush-Henrietta, I could tell something special is happening here,” she says, adding how excited she is to be able to contribute once she begins her new position. “I have more than two decades of experience in education. Every decision I make will be centered around our children.”
Morien received bachelor’s and master’s degrees in elementary education from the State University College at Brockport. There, she received her certification of advanced study in educational administration in 2006.
She joins us from Rochester City School District’s School No. 45, where, since becoming principal in 2014, she helped lead a dramatic turnaround of a building that was on the brink of closure.
Before that, she was assistant principal and principal of School No. 23. She also has served as the city school district’s lead Language Arts Teacher for grades K-6, an English Language Arts specialist, and literacy coach. She began her career as an elementary school teacher in Rochester more than two decades ago.
Morien looks forward to beginning her new leadership role in Rush-Henrietta on July 8. She succeeds Sherman’s longtime principal, Jeff Pollard. This summer, he will become principal of Winslow Elementary School, where he taught fourth grade from 1999 to 2003. He is ready to help Morien experience a smooth transition to our district.
She is excited for the new opportunity.
“Being an educator is such a privilege,” Morien says. “Building a school community that wraps around every child is such an incredible gift that I take very seriously. Watching children grow and find success in all that they do is the best part of the job.”
Please welcome Rhonda Morien to the Rush-Henrietta Central School District!
