Dr. Tim Shafer Named Interim Principal of Senior High School; Will Assume New Position July 1
The Rush-Henrietta Central School District is pleased to announce that Dr. Tim Shafer has been appointed interim principal of the Senior High School. He will assume this role on July 1 and will serve in this capacity for the entire 2019-2020 school year. The Board of Education made the appointment official during its regularly scheduled meeting this week.
“Tim has a long track of record of success here in Rush-Henrietta,” says Lawrence Bo Wright, superintendent. “He is a steady hand. We like that he is well known to staff members at the Senior High School. I know they will appreciate the calming presence Tim will bring to this important interim leadership role.”
Dr. Shafer holds a doctorate in educational leadership from St. John Fisher College. He joined Rush-Henrietta five years ago as the director of academic services, working out of the Senior High School. Two years ago, he also took on oversight of the alternative education program at the Webster Learning Center, where he has been instrumental in integrating restorative practices.
Prior to joining Rush-Henrietta, Dr. Shafer worked in the West Irondequoit Central School District for 17 years. There, he taught social studies, was a junior high school counselor, and served as senior high school assistant principal.
Dr. Shafer will succeed Beth Patton, who is retiring at the end of June. The need for an interim principal arose after the district and its original choice to be Patton’s successor mutually agreed to change directions this month. At this time, Rush-Henrietta intends to post the position again next winter and hold interviews with a new slate of candidates.
In the meantime, Dr. Shafer looks forward to continuing the tradition of excellence at the Senior High School. “We have incredible faculty and staff at the high school and the alternative learning center,” he says. “I have worked with many of them, and I look forward to continuing to build on our accomplishments.”
Please welcome Dr. Tim Shafer back to Rush-Henrietta Senior High School!
