Remembering Laurie Broadwell, R-H Bus Driver

It is with great sadness that we share the passing of Laurie Broadwell, a bus driver who worked for the Rush-Henrietta Central School District from 2001 to 2018.

Despite a long bout with cancer, Laurie maintained a wonderful, positive attitude while working during many difficult days. Her dedication was inspiring to us all.

“Laurie was a beautiful person inside and out, and an inspiration to others,” says Shirley Smith-Gravanda, director of transportation. “She struggled with her treatment but always maintained a positive and friendly attitude; her smile warmed your heart. She pushed through many days of discomfort to be there for her students. She will be missed by many, but never forgotten. Her smile lives on.”

Laurie touched the lives of students from all corners of our school district. She drove bus for Burger Junior High School, Fyle Elementary School, Leary Elementary School, Pinnacle Lutheran School, Roth Junior High School, Rush-Henrietta Senior High School, Sherman Elementary School, and Winslow Elementary School. She is pictured on the first day of school in 2012.

At this time, memorial services are expected to be held privately. We extend our sincere condolences to Laurie’s friends and family. We will never forget her warm, loving heart, and her steadfast dedication to the children of our district.
