Rush-Henrietta Kicks off 75th Anniversary Celebration
Seventy-five years ago, an important debate was taking place. Would our community continue to operate dozens of small, individual schools, or instead combine forces to create a centralized system committed to teaching all children? The answer forever would change the future of how local students are educated.
Fortunately, in November 1946, residents from Rush and Henrietta voted to create the Rush-Henrietta Central School District, a decision that made it possible to afford an equitable education to all students from both communities.
Much has changed in our school district since its founding in 1946. Did you know there were more students living in Rush than in Henrietta when the district was formed? It seems hard to believe now, but it’s true. Those were different times, to be sure, but that vote 75 years ago led to the start of something special - a school district that remains devoted to all.
This year, Rush-Henrietta celebrates 75 years of educational excellence. We will be sharing many posts with our community right here and on the district Facebook page. This is the perfect time to share our Facebook page with your friends, family members, and Rush-Henrietta alumni. We look forward to celebrating where we have been, where we are, and where we are headed.
