New State Law Regarding Internet-Enabled Devices
As mentioned in July 2025 E-News messages to families, Governor Hochul signed into law this spring an amendment to NY Education Law § 2803 that restricts the use of personal internet-enabled devices during the school day for all K-12 schools in New York. This means our students will no longer be able to use their cell phones during school beginning in September.
In accordance with the new law, the Rush-Henrietta Board of Education adopted Policy 5695: Students and Personal Electronic Devices. As parents and guardians, your partnership is essential in helping us enforce this new policy, and you are encouraged to read it in full.
