Exceptions
Rush-Henrietta recognizes that some students may require access to internet-enabled devices for educational, medical, or personal reasons. Exceptions are permitted under the following circumstances:
Automatic Exceptions
Use of internet-enabled devices must be permitted when:
- Required by a student’s Individualized Education Program (IEP) or Section 504 Plan.
- Otherwise required by federal or state law.
Permitted Exceptions (Case-by-Case)
In addition, the district may allow device use under the following circumstances:
- Translation Support: To provide access to translation services during the school day.
- Caregiving Responsibilities: For students who have routine responsibility for the care of a family member, as verified through the request process.
- Emergency Situations: When immediate access to a device is necessary for personal safety.
Important Note: Carrying a cell phone will only be permitted in rare and exceptional cases.
