We look forward to working with you to make this a successful year for all our students! Meet the 8-2 Team. Mrs. Petschke received her Bachelor's degree and Master's degrees from SUNY Brockport in English. She began teaching in Arizona. She has been at Burger for 12 years. She is the Yearbook Assistant and Co-Advisor to Leaps in Literacy. She has been a recipient of the Teacher of the Year Award. Outside of school she likes to play tennis, read, go to the gym and to spend time with her children. "Do not train a child to learn with force or harshness; but direct them to it by what amuses their minds, so that you may be better able to discover with accuracy the peculiar bent of the genius of each." - Plato Mrs. Bitter received her Bachelor's degree in Mathematics and her Master's degree from Brockport. She is a graduate of the Rush-Henrietta schools. She spent 8 years as a teaching assistant at the High School.. She spent 1 year teaching at Victor and has been at Burger for 7 years. She is the mother of two daughters. Outside of school she teaches and performs dance.
Mr. Butler received his Bachelor's degree in Geology from Fredonia and his Master's degree from New Paltz. He worked as a hydrologist prior to teaching. It is his 11th year teaching. He started teaching in Hyde Park, NY. It is his 7th year in Rush Henrietta. He transferred to Burger this year as part of the Earth Science program change. Outside of school he is ridiculously addicted to fly-fishing.
Mr. Baumgartner received his degree in Political Science from Hartwick College and his Master's degree from University at Buffalo. He has been teaching for 10 years, all at Burger. He is the Boys Soccer Coach at Burger. Outside of school he plays guitar and writes songs. Miss. Laughlin received her BA in Secondary English Education and Special Education from Nazareth College of Rochester. She joined the Burger community in the fall of 2006. Miss Laughlin will be working with the eighth grade students during the 2008-2009 school year. She is involved in the Literacy Leadership Committee and is actively involved in department and building meetings. Miss Laughlin enjoys helping her students build a toolbox of strategies that will allow them to be successful in and out of the classroom environment. Miss Laughlin enjoys traveling, shopping, reading, and dining out with family and friends.

Ms. Hawkes received her Bachelor's degree from West Virginia University in Psychology and her Master's degree from Canisius College. She began her counseling career in Orlando, Florida. The beginning of this year marks her 9th year at Burger Middle School. She is currently serving on the ERT and Student Management committees. She spends her free time playing with her four pets, listening to music on her MP3 player, reading fantasy, and playing video games. She enjoys all sorts of art and crafts, painting, drawing, jewelry making and refinishing furniture.
