Our Vision

The key points of our District vision are to provide safe and caring learning environments, to keep an unwavering focus on student learning, to work together in a culture of collaboration, and to commit ourselves to continuous improvement. You can read the entire Mission/Vision statement by clicking here.

To accomplish our mission and bring our vision to reality we need to:
  • be able to easily articulate what is being taught in our classrooms,
  • show our students that what is being taught is relevant for today and tomorrow,
  • demonstrate to our students and their families how much we believe in their abilities to reach higher levels of academic achievement,
  • research and model best practices, current strategies and pedagogy, and
  • provide our staff  with opportunities for professional development and growth.
We know that some children may need a little more time, some may need a different presentation of the material, and yet others may need additional encouragement to persevere, to become engaged in the classroom, or to move to higher challenges. We know that each student is an individual with a unique set of abilities, beliefs, and experiences. We are working to better unlock the talents each child brings to our schools and to embrace the diversity of our learning community.

Although we have made good progress, we need to continue to articulate what we want our students to know and be able to do. Our curriculum maps ensure that all children are given the same learning experiences, no matter which school or which teacher they are assigned to within our district. They reflect the New York State Learning Standards and support rigor and relevance for all students.

In order to evaluate how well our students are progressing, we are developing common assessments and analyzing student data using consistent criteria and exemplars. We have clearly outlined the methods for identifying students who are not achieving at their highest levels, and we are strengthening our instruction to them by proactively intervening with additional time and support to meet their needs.

Educating our children is a shared responsibility. As we embark upon this mission together, we will need the continued support of our school community. We are excited about the future of Rush-Henrietta schools and encourage you to be involved in as many ways as possible. You can find a wealth of opportunities by reading school newsletters, district correspondence, and by being a frequent visitor to our district Web pages.

Together we will ensure that every student in our district grows to be a responsible, productive, life-long learner in our global community.
