On Tuesday, May 15, eligible residents in the Rush-Henrietta Central School District overwhelmingly approved the Board of Education’s proposed 2012-2013 budget. The budget was approved by a 1,001 to 314 margin, which is 76 percent approval.
In addition, voters approved propositions involving bus expenditures (1,044 to 266), capital expenditures (1,005 to 304), and the creation of a capital reserve fund (980 to 292).
The community also was asked to vote for three district residents who will serve unpaid, three-year terms on the Board of Education. Sue A. Smith (957 votes), Pamela J. Reinhardt (953 votes), and Rosie B. Mitchell (790 votes) were elected. William SM Hall Jr. received 719 votes.Next year, Rush-Henrietta will again have the lowest true-value tax rate among the 17 suburban school districts in Monroe County, all while preserving academic programs and services for students. "Our community has a long history of supporting our schools," says Superintendent Ken Graham, "and we are grateful for that support. Thank you!"
